Getting From the Airport:

Finding your own way to Le Meridian Hotel or getting around on your own
when reaching CDG Airport.

If you land at Terminal 1.
From arrival hall level Look for EXIT Gate32
Then directly opposite is the small bus terminal.
Look for GREEN LINE Bus Number 2.
Stops DIRECTLY Oppose Le Meridian Airport to Porte de Milo.
17Euros through the machine (Card only) and 1 extra Euro when bought on-board (18euros)

Traveling from terminal to terminal there is a free sky train.
Use the CDG VAL (sky-train) to shuttle.

Lourve Museum

ABBATip: Go from the Metro Station to the Lourve Museum. You can stay dry if its raining, and there's free wifi. The queue is so much shorter than that above ground at the iconic pyramid entrance! Tickets can be bought either at the Lourve itself or like we did from the gift shop nearby from the metro. Tickets go for 15Euros for Adults. Signs are clearly marked so its really easy to find your way to the museum.

It took about 20mins waiting time from the underground entrance to get into the Lourve itself. The Lourve is somehow interconnected to a shopping center with loads of interesting high-end-ish boutiques. Once in the museum, there's Loads of pictured signage to point you towards the more famous paintings/sculptures so its sorta of easy to navigate around.

The Mona Lisa is a half-length portrait painting by the Italian Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci that has been described as "the best known, the most visited, the most written about, the most sung about, the most parodied work of art in the world". The Mona Lisa is also one of the most valuable paintings in the world.

Of course when in Paris, and a fan of the arts, a visit to the Lourve is a must. However the overall layout of the place requires quite a fair bit of back tracking and the collection itself is just a mass collection from each era and style. Free Maps are available in the museum.

A wet day in Paris, but you can see the Eiffel Tower from the Lourve as well!

Overall, the collection could be better themed, and the more famous pieces really are the main draw to the place. (Watching some video, its said that 80% of the visitors there are just there to see the Mona Lisa).

The architecture of the place itself is stunning and the gifts shops offer interesting products. An excellent wet weather program and having the free museum maps helps focus on what you want to see.

Eiffel Tower

Synonymous with Paris, the Eiffel Tower took two over years to complete construction. From what could be seen, there's pretty much three queues. Two of which are reserved for elevator services and the cheaper alternative, a stairs access. Wait time varies but after security checks its pretty much one queue and you're up for an amazing vantage point to see everything.

ABBATip: From entering and exiting, security checks were far shorter from the train staiton Trocadero. There is no charge to enter the base of the Eiffel Tower.

Its a choice of (At adult tickets) 16Euros that gets you less than mid way or 25Euros to the summit. The summit view is wellllllll worth it!

New signage to fit the times

ABBATip: Its best to get off from Trocadero station (650m walk to the Eiffel Tower). It gives a great view of the Eiffel Tower from a distance and the security queue from the west side was much shorter than the east side.

Galleria la fayette

Harrods equivalent and great place to hide out from the weather. La Defense at the other end of the yellow metro line is another great sheltered shopping district.

Cathedral De Notre-dame

Cathedral De Notre-Dame a modern structure for its time and made famous by the Hunchback of Notre-dame story. It may not be the largest of Cathedral in the world, but it is a functioning place of worship and has a nice feel about it. This is as opposed to being a overtly touristy spot/museum.

There is a tower tour which grants you access to the top of Notre-dame. Due to the spiral staircase, they limit the number of visitors to smaller groups of 20 at intervals. Tickets for adults go for 10Euros. Be warned that there are over 400steps to take up and is a workout in itself. 

The leaning tower of Pisa and Milan's Domo too require a lot of step-taking, but we felt that the returns from those were far greater. After having had a view from the Eiffel Tower, the vantage point from the Notre-dame was still good but incomparable to the former.
